The Thief is a video performance influenced from Vassilis Vlastaras project "Condensation Cube".

It derives from a YouTube video that shows the arrest of a thief in a local market in a small Greek town while the passers-by are prosecuting him. During the performance, Vassilis Vlastaras and Maria Glyka are using words and sounds from selected comments that appeared underneath the video. Emphasizing on the brutality of the words a discussion is formed between racists, homophobic, fanatics, different religious and political parties.
The Condensation Cube Project is a project of research and recording, receiving and evaluating, gathering and re-displaying information and events from the internet.
The project is based on a 10-year gathering and mapping of web-based news and commentary material, which so far is the material of a blog under the title Condensation Cube. This Cube, shaped as an intangible space, functions as a kind of landscape of political, economic, social and cultural Greek reality. In spite of the large number of information, within its limits it acts as a mirror of modern society, concentrating moments and events, reflecting the changes that are happening and allowing the exposure of their symptoms.
