Polarities brings together six artists, Jim Hobbs (UK/USA), Jono Crabbe (UK), Maria Glyka (Greece), Vassilis Vlastaras (Greece), Maria Karantzi (UK/Greece) and Jorge Cabieses-Valdes (Chile) who create live expanded cinematic works using 16mm film, digital projection, sculptural elements, performance and various acoustic tools.

The participant artists collaborate between each other and will also perform together dynamically.

Polarities aims to explore how artists from both hemispheres work creatively and collaboratively, while also examining the concept of “polarity” as it relates to political, social, cultural and economic structures. For this special event the artists will explore the performative nature of their own individual works and also create a new collaborative piece which responds specifically to Athens and its environs.

Polarities has been recently shown in Museum of Contemporary Art (Santiago, Chile) and Sound/Image 2023 Festival, University of Greenwich.
